Tip 13- When To Pay Your Doc

After a health care claim, your insurer sends out an Explanation of Benefits (EOB).

Other than an occasional co‐pay, your employees should never pay any bills until they receive the EOB detailing their health care claims.

Providers love it when you don’t follow this simple advice!

Wait for the EOB. It gives you an opportunity to make sure you have received all the services you are charged for. And that the discounts your insurance company has negotiated have been applied. And how much of your deductible has been satisfied. (If 100%, you may not owe your doc anything!)

EOBs are a font of information. Review them carefully.
