Tip 150- This Just In

As you must know by now, the Affordable Care Act open enrollment period started October 1st. We’ve signed up a good many individuals for coverage with a January 1st effective date. Here are our early results:

 60% bought silver coverage, 33% bronze, and 7% gold; deductibles in excess of $2,000 are the norm

 premiums for single coverage averaged $516/month
 37% of our applicants qualified for Marketplace subsidies.

In contrast, employees pay on average 30% of premiums that are $490/month for coverage under employer sponsored group insurance, for a plan with a $1,715 deductible.
