Our Milwaukee Brewers are playing baseball (well, sort of). The hum of lawnmowers begins to fill the air on weekends. Lilacs and daffodils are in full bloom. ‘Tis the time of the season.
It’s also a time for ‘seasonal employees.’
But don’t be fooled by the word ‘seasonal.’ It’s just an adjective. It has no legal basis when it comes to your employees’ benefits.
Full time employees – those working 30 hours or more each week – must be offered coverage when they satisfy their probationary period.
If they drop out of your group when the season is over, they are still eligible to continue in your plan under COBRA.
