Tip 201- Saving On Your Prescriptions
I was reading a Consumer Reports article the other day entitled “8 Expensive Health Insurance Mistakes.” (The complete article is at this link.)
Number 7 on their list is “Failing to use your insurer’s preferred pharmacy or mail order service.”
That’s good advice.
Would your co-pays be lower at certain retail pharmacies? How much would you save using your mail order service? Not to mention the convenience of having a 90 day supply delivered to your home. (Or do you like waiting in line at the pharmacy with all those coughing people!!)
Most insurers use a Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) company to help their members get the best value for their prescriptions. Their phone number is on your ID card.
Give them a call to learn more.
