Tip 79- Changes To Women’s Health Coverage

You’ve probably seen it on the news: effective August 1, 2012, the Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act mandates coverage for specific women’s preventive care services.

These “enhancements” are required to be covered 100 percent. No co‐pays or cost sharing of any kind.

That’s sure to cause some confusion. Why?

Well, for many plans, the changes don’t actually happen until the first renewal date after August 1st. That could be as late as July 1 of 2013!

And co‐pays may still apply to some brand name (Tier 2 and Tier 3) contraceptives.

Your insurer has mailed out all the plan details. Now would be a good time to check those out.
