I was looking through the October issue of MRA’s HR Digest. Great organization. Terrific
There was an article about the election. There’s an election? I must not have been paying
attention. Who’s running, anyway?!
Seriously, think about a single parent on November 6th scrambling to get the kids off to school
before work. Puts in a nine hour day. Then it’s back to get the kids. Maybe a soccer game. Then
dinner and homework. Doesn’t leave much time to vote, does it?
That’s why in Wisconsin, employees may be absent from work for up to three (unpaid) hours
when polls are open. It’s a law, providing they request the time off in advance.
Now might be a good time to remind them of this important right.
