Tip #372: What Does Knee Surgery Really Cost?

Every once in a while I ask you to invest more than 30 seconds on a topic. That’s the case today, so I’ll be brief here.

The title of this week’s Tip is a direct quote from a front page headline of the 8/22 Wall Street Journal. Here’s a link to the article written by Melanie Evans.  (If the link isn’t live when you read this, just Google the headline and the author.)

This is good stuff and a must read.

Kudos to La Crosse’s Gunderson Health System and Madison’s employer group – The Alliance – for shining a light on actual cost accounting in health care.

The answer, by the way, is $10,550 at Gunderson. They were charging $50K.

Now that’s a real knee jerker!

P.S. We’re moving along nicely merging The Rauser Agency systems and IT with Robertson Ryan. Have you ‘met’ Dawn Marie Pfeiffer (DawnMarie@TheRauserAgency.com, your group contact) and Dawn Devlin (Dawn@TheRauserAgency.com, for individual and Medicare)? How can we be of service?
